For me, there is no other place to live than Thailand, and within this beautiful country Pattaya has it all.
24 years ago, when I moved to Pattaya with my family, hardly any one was living "over Sukkhumvit" (East Pattaya), the Third Road did not exist, Big C just opened (now re branded and upgraded to Central Marina) ...and a coffee was a Nescafe.
Since then Pattaya and surroundings have developed tremendously, new shopping malls (the latest Terminal 21, will not be the last one), roads, electric, internet, restaurants, shops....
But still the "paradise" is just few minutes away, a nice beach (now with a good and fancy restaurant) or the area around Mabprachan Lake, Silver Lake etc.
Kanchanaburi, Khao Yai, Trat etc. are several hours away but nice 2-3 day trips.
I never regretted to have my base in Pattaya, and the option to explore Thailand and rest of South East Asia from here!
Equal important is the "community": as Pattaya has been a second or even first home for people from all over the world for decades, it is easy to socialize with fellow country(wo)men but you make friends with people from all over the world as well.
And the food.... I always come back to that. Is there any place in the world with this quality, diversity and value for money?
Dinner appointments are some kind of hobby for us residents, and it may be a noodle soup or some fine cuisine.
Pattaya got it all!
